Genshin Impact developer HoYoVerse has announced their upcoming free-to-play action RPG, Zenless Zone Zero. Taking a different angle from Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero takes place in a post-apocalyptic metropolitan city where players take on the role of a proxy.
Trouble naturally brews in New Eridu, and it’s up to the Proxies to prevent humanity’s extinction when the dangerous Ethereals attack. HoYoVerse says it aims to provide a fluid and cinematic action-oriented combat system that will allow players to perform stylish skills and QTE combos within the game’s roguelike structure.
In between combat sequences, players can also explore the Hollows, messy dimensions that the Ethereal call home that have been industrialized under city administration. These dangerous areas have gradually led to rising tensions between corporate monopolies, gangs, conspirators and fanatics, with Proxies caught in the middle of turf wars.
Initial closed beta registration for the game on iOS and PC is now available on the official websitealthough an exact release date has yet to be announced for the game. Genshin Impact proved to be a huge hit for HoYoVerse when it first arrived, so expectations will understandably be high for the next HoYoVerse title.
While this game continues to work, recent developments have seen Genshin Impact update 2.7 delayed indefinitely, but the developer is giving away plenty of free DLC to help compensate for this. The Switch version is also still in development, as HoYoVerse has promised more details in the future on when Nintendo fans can expect to play Genshin Impact on the Nintendo hybrid console.
