The Ascent: Cyber Heist DLC released in August with massive melee weapons

The Ascent is getting new story DLC later this month, continuing the story from the main game.

The DLC, called The Ascent: Cyber Heist, will launch on August 18, and you can play it as long as you beat the main campaign. You can do it solo or co-op with friends, and there are a number of new main missions and side quests to dig into, along with new weapons, advanced melee combat, and a new area.

“In Cyber Heist, Kira, your old employer, has a top-secret new job, and as a new independent contractor, how could you refuse?” reads a press release. “Venture outside your familiar arcology into an all-new arcology owned by the Malhorst-Gelb group. There are groundbreaking new technologies waiting for the taking, but you’re not the only one aiming for the prize.”

In terms of melee, dedicated melee weapons are now available to you, including the Rock Crusher and Guillotine. You will also be able to explore a new arcology, owned by the Malhorst-Gelb group, and in the new missions you will meet characters such as Ontario and Zell. There are also new enemies to face.

The DLC will cost $10 and follows on from the previous two DLC packages Cyber Warrior and Cyber Sec.

In GameSpot’s The Ascent review, we gave the game a 6/10 noting that the eventual gain of the game’s central mystery “isn’t enough to make up for the hopeless grind”, as well as the difficulty curve being overall “deeply unbalanced”.
