Jon Snow Game Of Thrones Sequel Series With Kit Harington Coming To HBO – Report

HBO is working on another live-action Game of Thrones spinoff series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This one will continue the story of the main show, as it centers on Jon Snow – with Kit Harington set to reprise the role – rather than delving into the show’s expansive world history, as does other spin-offs.

No other details about the Jon Snow spin-off’s premise have been shared, and it’s possible the series will never come to fruition – HBO has already canned a series in development, and it could end up being again. the case here. But THR notes that Harington is committed to the project.

The Game of Thrones mainline was believed to be the end of these characters’ (and time period’s) stories, with HBO deliberately entering into the long story outlined by A Song of Ice and Fire author George RR Martin for later projects. THR draws a line of comparison between this Jon Snow series and Disney’s approach to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Star Wars, both of which have dedicated entire series to existing characters in well-rehearsed parts of their respective timelines. The reception given to the last seasons of Game of Thrones, and in particular season 8, has been much more mixed than that of previous seasons.

Given the nature of this show, it’s possible that Game of Thrones characters who made it to the finish line without dying could be seen in the Jon Snow series, although there’s no word on the other actors who have committed to do so.

Snow (despite technically being dead once along the way) ultimately survived the events of the series, discovering that he is in fact Aegon Targaryen, and thus an heir to the Iron Throne. But after Snow kills Daenerys and Bran is elected king, Bran exiles Snow to Night’s Watch. The show teases a possible reunion between Snow and Tyrion Lannister at the Wall one day, and after reuniting with Tormund Giantsbane, other wildlings, and Ghost, he heads north past the Wall.

Seven Game of Thrones projects are currently underway. The first spin-off show, House of the Dragon, is set to air on August 21. Meanwhile, fans of the series of novels on which Game of Thrones is based are still waiting for the next book, The Winds of Winter, after more than a decade.
