Dragon’s Dogma 2 officially announced

Capcom officially announced the highly anticipated Dragon’s Dogma 2 during the original game’s special 10th anniversary celebration.

The announcement was made by director Hideaki Itsuno at the end of the celebration, although only a game logo was displayed. It is “in development”, but how far it is is a mystery.

A subsequent press release confirmed that Dragon’s Dogma will run, like so many other Capcom games, on the RE engine. In addition to Itsuno, at least two other developers from the first game, Daigo Ikeno and Kenichi Suzuki, will return to work on the sequel. Beyond that, nothing else about the game was shared, with Capcom simply saying that the developers “are excited to share more details in the future.”

Dragon’s Dogma originally launched in May 2012 on Xbox 360 and PS3. It later received an upgraded version called Dark Arisen, which included expansion content and later ports on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch. There’s even an animated series on Netflix.
